Veneers or facets

If you have ever heard the stories about veneers and a perfect Hollywood smile, without knowing what veneers really are, you are at the right place. Veneers or facets are a thin layer of porcelain glued over the front teeth, just like artificial nails are glued to the natural ones. Owing to this non-invasive procedure, which yields maximum results based on minimum intervention, each tooth can look natural and healthy.

Veneers are very thin ceramic flakes, placed by means of a special strong adhesive (composite cement), which is why little or no preparation is necessary for their placement. Veneers can change the colour and the shape of teeth. If a tooth is not aligned properly because its colour changed or it was damaged in some other way, a precisely defined porcelain colour may completely change the way it looks. Veneers can “cover” a broken or damaged tooth, making it look as good as new as a thick layer of material is placed instead of the missing part. Veneers can close the gap between the front teeth (diastema), and prolong the front teeth if they are too short.

Veneers are more and more frequently used instead of teeth whitening, considering that only a thin outer layer is removed from the tooth surface in order to ensure permanent bonding of the porcelain flake. That layer is as thin as the veneer, and as a result the tooth remains the same, only in a new coating.

Once the tooth is prepared, the dentist will take an imprint according to which the technician will make the veneer.  The colour will be defined in accordance with the other teeth, so that the new tooth can align naturally.

Facets are very strong and durable and may last for up to 15 years. This procedure will, therefore, really give you a reason to smile.
