Laser treatment could get your teeth to re-grow

No more fillings. Scientists found a way to regenerate dentin, the substance that forms the tooth. According to the latest research of leading scientists from Harvard, all that is needed to regenerate dentin is a weak laser beam. The latest study published in Science Translational Medicine shows that laser beams can cause dental stem cells to produce dentin.

At the moment, damaged dentin is replaced by artificial materials, e.g. by filling tooth canals.  However, in the future you will go to your dentist to re-grow your teeth based on this procedure. Just as weak laser beams prompt hair to grow faster or stimulate skin, they are obviously equally successful in dental procedures.

This is the first procedure by means of which your teeth could re-grow, and has only been tested on rodents so far. Future research will involve humans as well, so that hopefully one day painful dental procedures will be replaced.

Laser pointed into your mouth is most certainly not an appealing idea, but, nevertheless, this seems to be the future of dental medicine.
