Efficient and less efficient methods of teeth whitening

If teeth whitening by strawberry juice, lemon juice or vinegar yielded no results, it is because these substances do not penetrate deeply enough to affect the dentin.

The dentin lies beneath the tooth surface (the enamel), which is transparent; thus, it is the dentin that defines the colour of your teeth. In time, the dentin may change its colour, making your teeth look yellowish. Furthermore, different pigments may leave sediment on the surface of your teeth, originating from food, coffee or cigarettes, and equally affecting the colour of your teeth.

There are many methods of teeth whitening, but only those that enable deep penetration into the dentin are efficient enough. You can whiten your teeth in the dental practice, which is a faster way, but in that case stronger preparations are applied. The so-called night whitening is equally efficient. This, of course, does not mean night visits by your dentist, but the production of transparent foils made after your dental impression, which you yourself fill with the whitening preparation and wear it over night. This method is a little bit slower, but less harmful for the tooth surface. It goes without saying that it is essential where you whiten your teeth and which preparations you apply. In order to have white teeth for as long as possible after the whitening process, you need to avoid coffee, cigarettes, black whine, dark-coloured juices, tea and sparkling beverages.
